To provide leadership in the strategic and daily operations of the clinical service line including the assigned clinical inpatient and outpatient areas. This includes developing and maintaining physician relations, empowering clinical care givers through solicitation of input and implementation of actions to improve delivery of patient care. Responsible for planning, organizing, directing and evaluating the administrative functions of this clinical service. He/she will supervise the delivery of patient care and has the responsibility for establishing standards of nursing practice for the service line. Assure achievement of department goals and adherence to hospital policies and standards set forth by accreditation and regulatory agencies. A primary responsibility of this role will be to create a comprehensive service line system of care across the continuum for Centura Health. In addition, specific focus areas will include

  • Growth in assigned service line (Womens: OB/GYN, NICU, L&D, Lactation, etc.)

  • Development of network of care

  • Liaison to other facilities within Centura Health

  • The development of a physician alignment strategy

  • Lead service line committees

  • Develop ongoing improvements in the program

  • Ongoing development of service line image

  • Advancement of inpatient programs at facility

  • Assist in development of annual marketing plan

  • Minimum Education Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Master degree in a health related field or clinical discipline, preferred Minimum Experience Requirements

5 years of management experience and proven leadership experience within healthcare and assigned service line.


Colorado State RN License, preferred

Specialty nursing certification, preferred

Position Duties (essential functions denoted with an * )

  • Business Management/Leadership (25%)

    • Collaborate in generating annual market and service line development plans that define volume growth projections in each market segment and outlines the strategy, tactical efforts, and milestones needed to reach the population base that will support the generation of the projected volume

    • Collaborate in development of annual marketing plans for community and physicians

    • Helps prepare budgets to meet operation, technological, capital and marketing needs of the service line

    • Identifies cost savings and revenue enhancement opportunities of the service line

    • Works in conjunction with the hospital foundation to identify potential funding to advance the service line

    • Collaborate with payer relations, finance and other appropriate parties to develop strategies for contracting and developing specialty care networks

    • Analyzes financial data and reports to assure compliance with approved budgets and to control costs

    • Provides vision and direction for patient population by establishing criteria for moving patients along the health care continuum, incorporating appropriate multi-disciplinary care

    • Actively leads and participates in the development and promotion of policies and procedures that support the provision of high quality patient care services.

    • Promotes an environment in which staff are coached, mentored and supported to increase professional education and skills

    • Resolves conflicts independently and effectively

  • Growth (25%)

    • Achieve growth in the LAH diagnostic and treatment volumes market share and admission for service line.

    • Develop a marketing strategy for growth and continually evaluate and monitor its effectiveness.

    • Develop outreach and educational programs in conjunction with EMS, community agencies, and rural health services

    • Initiate program and service development, evaluation, and restructuring to meet changing market needs

    • Actively interact with rural hospitals and communities, physicians (internal and external) to facilitate referrals and usage of Littleton Adventist Hospital services.

  • People (20%)

    • Develop a physician alignment strategy that engages physicians in service line and facility strategic planning; coordinates communication of service line initiatives to applicable physician sections and proactively addresses physician relationship issues to foster a collegial work environment

    • Collaborate with clinical leadership in coordination of effective system s of care

    • Champions a service excellence culture targeting superior patient and physician satisfaction and high quality in designated service line.

    • Recruits and engages physicians to advance clinical performance and continually grow the service line

    • Maintains a hospital environment that encourages retention, development of staff, customer service and patient centered care

  • Quality and Service (15%)

    • Advance service line quality standards for excellence and monitoring functions that assures provision of differentiated program value

  • Develop appropriate metrics that reflect performance related to service line strategies

  • Evaluates quality certification and designation opportunities for service line and works with clinical tams to obtain Center of Excellence designations that showcase differentiated program value

  • Community (15%)

    • Lead service line community outreach functions across the rocky mountain region targeting opportunities

    • Cultivate relationships and partnerships with community organizations

    • Develop service line system of care alliances with other hospitals across rocky mountain region

Expand affinity with service line stakeholders in community-based organizations
