The Department of Pediatrics is seeking an experienced, bilingual (English/Spanish) Senior Licensed Vocational Nurse to join our team. Senior Licensed Vocational Nurse is a licensed nursing employee who functions as a member of the nursing team under the direct supervision of the Director of Ambulatory Care and the Leads. The Senior LVN performs assigned duties according to the complexity of nursing care needs of the patient and within the range of formal and practical preparation; provides direct care to assigned patients; assists in the performance of routine patient care assignment within the various areas of the clinic, depending on need; carries out established nursing procedures; and performs other nursing duties assigned by the Medical Director, Manager, Supervisor, or the Director of Ambulatory Care. The Senior LVN must maintain a current LVN license, be BCLS certified, and maintain CE units.

Job Qualifications

Required: a current a California license issued by the State of California Board of Vocational Nurse Examiners, IV Certification and Blood Withdrawal certification, and BLS. One-year experience as an LVN in an ambulatory care setting. Bilingual verbal skills in English and Spanish. Good interpersonal skills to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with co-workers and others in the Department of Pediatrics. Expertise, skills, and knowledge in working with pediatric patients. Ability to work with frequent interruptions and distractions. Ability to screen incoming patients and/or telephone call inquiries; to respond with tact and accuracy; and make independent decisions regarding actions to be taken. Skill in writing grammatically correct and accurate nursing notes. Skill in inventory control sufficient to maintain adequate supplies and equipment. Ability to maintain neatness and cleanliness of work section. Preferred but not required: Working knowledge of University, Hospital, Nursing Service, and personnel policies and procedures. Working knowledge in use of electronic health record applications such as Epic.
