Position Description
This unit sees general medicine patients that fall into the 65 and older category. These patients will come from personal homes, nursing homes, resident care facilities, etc. The Older Adult Medical Surgical Registered Nurse will see a variety of medical cases while utilizing compassion, empathy and communication skills for treating older adults with a wide range of health issues and comorbidities that include but are not limited to renal failure, COPD, Alzheimer’s, Dementia, diabetes, etc.
Position Requirements
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Demonstrated proficiency in skills applicable to designated area within probationary period. Certified in cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR). In addition to the above, the following is preferred for departments listed below: Renal Dialysis: 1. One (1) year experience in critical care or hemodialysis. Special Care Nurseries: 1. Completion of the American Heart Association Resuscitation course. Family- Centered Care- Admissions Team: 1. 2 years nursery/nicu experience or 4 years Mother/Baby experience. 2. NRP mandatory. Neurosciences: 1. Completion of Critical Care and Basic Arrhythmia course. 2. ACLS certification. Radiology: 1. ACLS certification must be obtained within twelve (12) months of hire date. 2. Two (2) years experience in medical-surgical nursing or related area with at least one (1) year experience involving the treatment of cardiac/critical care patients or previous radiology experience. 3. PALS is required of Radiology Nurses working in the Alpharetta Pediatric Imaging facility and is preferred but not required for all other Radiology nurses 4. For the Breast Care Center locations — BCLS requirement only. Surgical Services 1. Operating Room: Prior Operating Room experience or completion of a course in Operating Room nursing. 2. PACU: Prior PACU or ICU experience or completion of a course in Post-Anesthesia Care nursing. 3. Current ACLS Certification required. Cath Lab Admission/Recovery Unit (ARU)-Forsyth 1. Critical Care experience (preferred). 2. Current ACLS (required). Cardiology –Forsyth 1. Critical Care experience (preferred). 2. Current ACLS (required). KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION PREFERRED National certification in specialty area. Cancer Center (Radiation Oncology ACLS certification and Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN).
