Nemours is seeking a Registered Nurse - Ambulatory (Casual/PRN) to join our team in Pensacola, Florida.

This position is responsible for providing and coordinating nursing care to the pediatric population and collaborating with other professionals on an institutional, community, state and national level.
  • Performs complete and accurate patient assessment or reassessment.
    • Provides education to the patient and/or parent/guardian in a manner that the recipient understands in order to contribute to positive patient care outcome and patient satisfaction.
  • Responsible for patient flow of clinic.
    • Obtains vital signs.
    • Captures and enters patient information into EMR.
    • Performs basic laboratory tests and enters results in EMR.
    • Collects and prepares laboratory specimens.
    • Performs electrocardiograms.
    • Performs in-office testing.
    • Rooms patients into exam rooms with preparation for exam and assists provider with exam.
  • Ensures appropriate documentation, such as x-rays and laboratory reports, is available for provider’s review.
  • Prepares, cleans and stocks exam rooms for clinic.
  • Ensures provider’s orders are carried out.
    • Performs and documents quality controls on laboratory equipment.
    • Under the direction of the provider, will schedule PT/OT, surgery and diagnostic tests to include pre-authorization and notification of patient.
  • Assists provider with procedures as necessary.
  • Ensures medications are safely stored in an appropriate area as designated by law and that medication expiration dates are evaluated on a monthly schedule.
    • Familiar with pharmacokinetics, contraindications, side effects and mode of administration of all medications provider prescribes.
    • Facilitates refills and medication authorizations.
  • Performs intravenous procedures to include obtaining peripheral and central line access.
    • Obtains specimens from peripheral or central lines.
    • Maintains sterile technique with central line and performs central line care.
  • Handles all telephone calls in a courteous and timely manner with documentation of call in EMR.
  • Ensures accurate ICD and CPT codes are recorded.
  • Ability to cross-cover in other clinical departments.

Requirements
  • Associate's degree required; BSN preferred.
  • Requires a minimum one (1) to three (3) years' experience as an RN in inpatient, hospital or clinic setting.
  • Current licensure in Florida as a Registered Nurse required.
  • Current BLS certificate required.
  • Pediatric and computer experience specializing in electronic medical records preferred.
