Service Area Overview
Northside Hospital is committed to patient safety, quality service and continuous improvement. Our Quality Improvement (QI) Department works to advance learning and system-wide improvements throughout the hospital, various outpatient sites, and the communities we serve. The program is a comprehensive effort that addresses Northside Hospital's dimensions of quality, including: clinical and service excellence, patient safety, continuous readiness, and operational efficiency. The Department improves health care provider and system performance through Departmental and Medical Staff peer review, maintaining a program of continuous compliance with Joint Commission standards, AHRQ patient safety measures, and utilizing data from department-specific QI initiatives to guide performance improvement efforts.

Position Description
The QI Clinical Data Specialist is responsible for the abstraction of data and data integrity for the various clinical registry and certification reporting requirements. The position is responsible for managing all processes related to the collection, analysis, and reporting of clinical data used for reporting Continuous Quality Improvement and management information. Designs and runs database queries to extract and compile data for reports while also, generating reports as requested, including summary, statistical, and/or presentation.

Position Requirements
Required: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Three (3) years of nursing experience in an acute care or surgical setting. Clinical background to include in-depth knowledge of the patient populations. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Effective computer skills. Ability to communicate effectively with physicians. Computer and Internet experience and familiarity and comfort with MS Office products Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree Previous experience with data registry extraction and submission, quality assurance. Advanced computer skills with spreadsheets and report writing. Knowledge of statistical concepts or experience with statistics. Database data entry and/or management experience. Basic statistical knowledge. Quality improvement or patient safety knowledge and experience. Presentation skills and experience.
