  Family Health Centers at NYU Langone, a designated Level 3 Medical Home, is the largest federally qualified health center network in New York State, and the second largest in the nation. It includes nine primary care sites, 33 school-based health centers and dental clinics, four day care centers, the nation's largest dental residency program, and New York State's largest behavioral health program. Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Nurse Practitioner.

In this role, the successful candidate will provide physical examination, diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions, immunizations, management of chronic diseases, preventive health care and referrals for comprehensive health care in a school health clinic.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Identify the health status of student by eliciting an age appropriate health and developmental history
  • Perform periodic physical examinations, developmental assessments and health screenings
  • Communicate the findings of health and developmental assessments to parents.
    Identify and manage acute illness and chronic medical conditions, refer for specialty evaluation as necessary
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety and age-related criteria pertinent to the patients served in his/her assigned area.
  • Function as a child health advocate; provide health education and counseling as appropriate
  • Collaborate with School Health Providers and Director re: case management issues and site specific issues
  • Assess responsibility for maintaining positive professional channels of communication with the School Based Health Care Team.
  • Serve as a resource person for orientation and staff development of School Health personnel.
  • Coordinate services in a school based setting.
  • Precept Nurse Practitioner students as appropriate.
  • Maintain statistical information and provide information for reports.
  • Other duties as assigned or volunteered in alignment with the mission, goals and values of NYU Langone Health.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing is required along with the graduation from a professional degree program as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Must have a current license as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) in New York State.
  • Must have excellent oral and written skill and should be able to multi-task and prioritize assignments independently.
  • should be able to work collaboratively with fellow physicians and other health care providers.
  • DEA license is required up on hire.
  • BLS required.
