Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Nurse Practitioner.

In this role, the successful candidate Provision, coordination, and assurance of comprehensive nursing care using nursing process and pertinent standards of care, the diagnosis of illness and physical conditions, and performance of therapeutic, corrective, and prescriptive measures of the designated inpatient or outpatient patient population within a collaborative practice agreement established with a specific physician on the staff of NYU Hospitals Center

Will provide comprehensive patient care using nurse practitioner guidelines and pertinent standards of care within a collaborative practice agreement established with physicians in the World Trade Center Health Program (WTC).

Job Responsibilities:

Quality Assurance and Compliance
  • Review patient and staff data to measure the effectiveness of patient care
  • Ensure all nurse practitioner clinical care are compliant with WTC Standard Operations Manual
  • Participates in the WTC Quality Assurance and Surveillance Program Committee
  • Assist in identification of risk factors and providing strategic problem-solving work plans
  • Assist in preparation of Quality Assurance Reports in compliance with WTC guidelines
  • Assist in preparation of documentations for necessary program audits
  • Assures compliance with standards and regulations promulgated by all applicable agencies
  • Collects, analyzes, and presents data to evaluate productivity and potential practice changes
  • Assists in DUR and other quality assurance reviews

Clinical & Case Management
  • Conducting Spirometry and Pulmonary Function Testing
  • Administering Interviewer-Administered Medical Questionnaires to WTC Monitoring Patients
  • Obtaining vital signs, blood pressure readings, etc.
  • Obtaining patient medical history
  • Assist in writing examination summary letters
  • Patient Care follow-up
  • Provide support and liaison for patients
  • Coordination of Cancer and Non-Cancer Case Management
  • Coordination of Pre-Authorizations and Referrals
  • Liaison with providers to enhance patient care
  • Assist in preparation and completion of WTC Certifications
  • Participate in case management calls and meetings
  • Resolving patient complaints
  • Referral of patients for and tracking of Cancer Screenings
  • Review of Results and Generating Results Letters
  • Prescribing Medications as Directed and Authorized by WTC physicians and WTC codebooks
  • Works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team including the attending physicians to develop
  • and implement the therapeutic plan of care

  • Review of peer-reviewed literature for latest developments of disease trends in WTC population
  • Assist in grant writing of new research proposals
  • Assist in analysis of research data
  • Maintains awareness of research protocols applicable to unit, assures staff awareness and knowledge of such protocols, protects rights of patients, and participates in assessment/evaluation of outcomes as indicated
  • Applies research findings that support development of evidenced-based practice

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Licensure: Current registration as Professional Nurse in New York and Registration as Nurse Practitioner in New York;Education: Master's Degree in Nursing;Experience with the WTC Patient Population; Demonstrates ability to develop, guide, motivate, nurture, and coach others; Evidence of excellent interpersonal skills, effective communication skills, and creative problem solving; Establishes a written Collaborative Practice Agreement with an NYUHC attending physician;Credentialed through the Credentialing Committee of the Medical Board with Delineation of Privilege approved with role specific treatment privileges;Certification required (as soon as feasible following graduation from NP graduate program) by ANCC or Board Certification from other specialty organization that certifies Nurse Practitioners in a clinical area of practice.ACLS, PALS, NRP Provider;(Neonatal Resuscitation Program), NALS per delineation of privileges; PRI Certification/Screening is optional;Competence: Clinical nursing practice in the care of the patient population served; ability to apply nursing process toward achievement of specific outcomes in an organized fashion, which addresses patient/family safety and satisfaction. Previous experience as a nurse practitioner is preferred. Evidence of excellent interpersonal skills, effective communication skills, creative problem solving and excellent critical thinking and leadership; Previously demonstrated ability to facilitate group processes and work cohesively and collaboratively as member of the interdisciplinary team; Effective change agent. .

Required Licenses: Registered Nurse License-NYS, Nurse Practitioner-NYS

Preferred Qualifications:
Membership in pertinent professional organizations preferred
