Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Nurse Practitioner.

In this role, the successful candidate The Nurse Practitioner will report directly to the Medical Director (MD). The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for providing psychiatric services and including: provision of a full behavioral health (including health) assessment; diagnosis; treatment recommendations; treatment planning; clinical treatment; and follow up planning. The Nurse Practitioner also provides clinical consultation to non-medical staff, and participates in the learning environment of the program.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Provide health/behavioral health assessment (including differential diagnoses, prognosis), treatment recommendations and treatment planning for patients.
  • Provide medication management for patients on medication and regular reassessment (as needed) for those assessed (but not on medication). Medication provision includes the direct delivery of injectables.
  • Provide counseling, therapy, psychoeducation about health/behavioral health and other care for patients. Participate in case reviews and contribute to treatment planning goal setting.
  • Provide consultations to non-medical staff on complex cases
  • Communicate with health care providers outside of the Child Study Center and interpretation of health results for client care planning.
  • Participate in practice improvement projects that benefit the patient and program.
  • Supports the mission, philosophy, standards, goals and objectives of the department and institution
  • Provide outreach to the professional and lay community
  • Attend all assigned administrative and educational meetings
  • Participates in designated activities related to professional nursing standards and regulations of relevant outside agencies
  • Practices as a member of the allied health staff according to the rules and regulations of the Medical Staff and bylaws as outlined in the delineation of privileges.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Current registration as a Nurse Practitioner in NYS
Minimum of 1 Year of clinical nursing practice in child psychiatry
Excellent interpersonal, communication, critical thinking and problem solving skills are a must
Previous experience in group practice is preferred
Sensitivity to confidentiality and adherence to HIPAA is required
