Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Sr. FGP Medical Assistant (35).

In this role, the successful candidate is an individual whose primary role is to assist with patient throughput and improve overall patient flow within the practice at Trinity. The Sr. Medical Assistant assists the clinical team in the care of patients and families by completing assigned patient care tasks; provides competent, safe, and compassionate care with emphasis on an understanding of the challenges faced by hospitalization, undergoing procedures or diagnostic tests; demonstrates NYULMC Core Values in all aspects of job performance. Under the guidance of Practice leadership, this individual will assist in identifying areas of opportunity, and help to pilot new processes, systems and activities that will ultimately improve overall practice performance.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Obtain vital signs, weights, EKGs when needed. Assists in escorting patients. Ensure chart is available, with relevant lab work and test reports if indicated, for physician when the physician sees the patient.
  • Assists with maintaining patient flow to and from exam rooms and treatment areas.
  • Assist with blood collection/phlebotomy
  • Ensure exam rooms and treatment areas are cleaned after each patient leaves and prepared for the next patients arrival
  • Assists Medical Assistants with rooming during peak hours and ensures optimal overturn of exam rooms
  • Serve as the liaison and a key point of contact between practice operations, management and coordinating patient throughput
  • Focuses effort on providers with consistent delays in patient flow and identifies areas for improvement for practice leadership discussion
  • Report to practice management on findings from the monitoring of practice operations and make recommendations as needed
  • Proactively communicate with patients in a timely manner to provide consistent and individual updates , while continuously tracking wait times, delays and next steps
  • Actively listen to patient concerns, and escalate to appropriate management as they arise, performing service recovery as needed
  • Consistently communicates all issues, concerns, new ideas with appropriate supervisor
  • Assists Practice Liaison with complaints pertaining specifically to wait time by investigating cause
  • Consistently reviews exam room grid to ensure optimum room utilization on a daily basis
  • Anticipate patient needs and communicate with appropriate staff and leadership to manage and facilitate solutions

Minimum Qualifications:
  • To qualify you must have a Upon hire or entry into the position, must hold a current Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 3 years of Medical Assistant Experience in a faculty group practice or hospital setting.

Required Licenses:
  • Medical Assistant Certificate
