  Family Health Centers at NYU Langone, a designated Level 3 Medical Home, is the largest federally qualified health center network in New York State, and the second largest in the nation. Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Nurse Practitioner.

In this role, the successful candidate's primary responsibility is to ensure Occupational Health Service patients obtain timely and quality care in the appropriate setting. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, performing initial physical examinations, patient care review, coordination of patient care, review work status and restrictions, and review of modified duty for employees on workers compensation and FMLA. The APN is charged with managing the delivery of care in an effective, professional and compassionate manner.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety pertinent to the patients/employees served in OHS
  • Assesses and evaluates employees who report to OHS for routine and acute care using appropriate history and physical examination, identifies conditions/diagnoses, and initiates a treatment/follow-up plan in relation to OHS policies
  • Coordinates patient care, performs patient care review - with other OHS health care team members, other departments and agencies
  • Assesses employees level of understanding, barriers to learning and provides education on diagnosis, treatments and other relevant care issues as indicated.
  • Observes, reports and documents significant physical and/or psychosocial status changes and assessments in the employees condition to appropriate members of the OHS health care team
  • Delivery of direct patient care in the OHS office including but not restricted to pre-placement history/physical exams, annual health reassessments, medical clearances, venipuncture, N95 Fit testing, vaccinations, and PPD placement and reading.
  • Reviews and documents all employee injuries/incidents, in coordination with HRs workers compensation department
  • Reviews and monitors all employee needlesticks/blood borne pathogen exposures/chemical or environmental exposures in accordance with OHS/DOH/OSHA recommendations and policies
  • Performs efficiently in emergency/crisis situations following established protocols
  • Works in conjunction with other departments/supervisors/agencies/volunteer services/HR to obtain all required documentation/materials for personnel presenting to the OHS department
  • Demonstrates awareness of legal issues in all aspects of patient care and strives to manage situations in a reduced risk manner. Reports findings or events to appropriate personnel.
  • Displays a commitment to quality both in practice and documentation and is able to follow through on all projects in a timely manner
  • Attends staff meetings as required and participates in committees as directed by the OHS Medical Director
  • Reviews pre-employment toxicology screens, and other laboratory/diagnostic testing results, based upon OHS policies and requirements
  • Data input of employee health information into the OHS STIX database
  • Reports to the Medical Director of OHS and acts as his/her designee in his absence or upon his request
  • Demonstrates an awareness of self-responsibility and accountability for own professional practice
  • Maintains professional competence through in-service and educational programs.
  • Demonstrates effective communication methods and skills using lines of authority appropriately.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing is required along with the graduation from a professional degree program as an Adult or Family Nurse Practitioner.
Must have a current license as a APN in NYS.
Previous experience managing clinical and non-clinical staff is preferred.
Must have excellent oral and written skill and should be able to multi-task and prioritize assignments independently.
should be able to work collaboratively with fellow physicians and other health care providers.
DEA license is required up on hire..
