As a part of the Medical Home team, the registered nurse provides nursing care to patients in the primary care pediatric practices as directed by physicians.

With a team approach, the position is responsible for collaborating with the clinical team to facilitate day-to-day operations within the office. The Registered Nurse is also responsible for the following:
  • Providing age- and developmentally appropriate care to infants, children and adolescents.
  • Triaging patient calls utilizing delineated protocols. Handling calls to/from patients, physician offices, insurance companies, internal customers, etc., utilizing proper telephone etiquette.
  • Performing and documenting patient assessments/intake including, but not limited to, height, weight, head circumference, blood pressure, vision and hearing screening and chief complaint.
  • Administering immunizations (oral and/or injectable medications). Administering PPD and interpreting results.
  • Performing phlebotomy via venipuncture or capillary techniques. Transcribing, collecting, labeling and arranging transport for lab specimens. Performing back office laboratory tests.
  • Assisting with procedures including, but not limited to, suture removal, minor procedures and catheterizations.
  • Monitoring patient flow, including preparing patients and rooms. Monitoring waiting room and keeping patients informed as to schedule delays.
  • Demonstrating ability and knowledge to develop, provide and document both clinical and non-clinical education to patient and family.
  • Developing care plans with patient and families.
  • Demonstrating knowledge of continuous quality improvement.
  • Ordering and stocking appropriate inventory of medical supplies.
  • Computer literate.
  • Working independently and proactively.
  • Communicating clearly both verbally and in writing.
  • Maintaining positive professional relationships with providers and co-workers.

Requirements
  • Primary care pediatric experience preferred.
  • Must have or be eligable for a Delaware nursing license.
  • Must have a CPR certification with the American Heart Association.
  • Bilingual preferred.

A shadowing experience will be a part of the interview process.

This is a 5-day/week position, core business hours, generally 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with weekend and evening rotation.
