POSITION SUMMARY:
 To provide safety in the hospital setting for those patients who require a sitter to perform continuous observation. This position functions under the supervision of a licensed registered nurse. Essential job functions include; observation of the patient with an unobstructed view at all times, maintains a safe environment by being knowledgeable of fall prevention protocols and infection control measures, follows instructions for patient observation as directed by assigned nurse, understands that conversations about the patient are confidential and should not be repeated or shared with anyone. In the event of an emergency or a sudden change in the patients condition, the sitter will notify the RN immediately via the call light or other method that allows the sitter to maintain constant observation of the patient. Provides companionship for patient and ensures that all contacts with patients, the public, physicians and other hospital personnel is carried out in a friendly, courteous, helpful and considerate manner. Position Requirements:  
A.  Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current BLS certification.
   B.  Experience:
Acute care experience desirable   C.  Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 
Demonstrates good organizational and customer service skills. Performs procedures safely and accurately within standards of practice. Displays appropriate judgment and problem solving skills. Communicates positively and professionally with all internal and external customers. Maintains patient confidentiality. ____________________________________
