||General Summary/basic PURPOSE OF JOB:
The RN will assess, plan, implement and evaluate the total nursing care for a designated group of patients undergoing a variety of rehabilitative and disease processes. The RN works toward the improvement of care and quality of life for patients.
Assesses patients on admission and routinely for the presence of pain. If pain is present assesses location, quality, intensity, alleviating and aggravating factors.
Monitors and recognizes obvious deviations from normal and recognizes subtle alterations in the patinient’s status that may indicate potential or actual patient problems. (above standards, demonstrates information seeking to explain incongruencies in data base)
Demonstrates consistently direct patient care as assigned and directed by the nurse practice act and nursing department policy and procedures. Delegates nursing care activities to appropriate nursing staff.
Takes appropriate action in anticipation of potential or actual life threatening or emergency situations.
Modifies plan of activity and assignments when change in patient, or caseload occurs.
Communicates pertinent information regarding diagnosis, medications, and other procedures in a compassionate manner with patient, family, and significant other.
Administer prescribed analgesics as appropriate. Selects appropriate nonpharmacological techniques to alleviate pain. Evaluate patient’s response to interventions.
Supports and complies with the Department of Nursing policies and procedures and displays customer service, teamwork, and assistance to peers and other departments.
Registered Nurse licensed in the State of Illinois or new graduate from an accredited School of Nursing with license pending in State of Illinois.
Current certification in Basic Life Support: Healthcare Providers, Level C.
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to function independently within scope of clinical practice.
