With minimal supervision, the HIS Supervisor functions as a supervisor in the planning, organization, staffing and coordination of the health information areas of release of information, document imaging, analysis, birth certificates, physician chart completion/notification, and other related areas. The HIS Supervisor manages the automated systems utilized and recommends and implements policies and procedures. The utmost level of confidentiality is maintained at all times. Responsible for the direct supervision of approximately 12- 15 FTEs.


Must possess High School Diploma or GED.
Associate's Degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience, OR Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Meditech experience preferred.
Certification Requirements: Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) from American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) preferred.
Previous supervisor experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in health information management/medical records.

Starts and completes tasks with minimal prompting, organizes work, and uses time efficiently. Demonstrates the ability to change behaviors and plans to meet rapidly shifting/competing job demands (new or unusual situations). Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
Fluent in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Must be computer literate and able to learn within 6 months.Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner.
Must be able to work independently and possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
Must be flexible, have personal integrity, and the ability to function effectively as a team with other employees.
