Position Description
Identifies malignant and benign cases for the oncology databases in accordance to standards of the Cancer Committee, Georgia Center for Cancer Statistics, SEER, American College of Surgeons and other accrediting bodies across all Northside facilities. Coordinates physician conferences and maintains documentation as required.

1. Coordinates and performs a variety of case finding methods to identify reportable cases for abstracting purposes across all Northside facilities, including but limited to electronic medical record, radiation therapy transcription, and pathology report review.
2. Adheres to case finding reportability rules in accordance to regulatory agencies and accrediting bodies, including but not limited to Georgia Center for Cancer Statistics and American College of Surgeons.
3. Adheres to case finding reportability guidelines of the Cancer Committee and other oncology program committees as needed.
4. Identifies all relevant encounters pertaining to each patient and organizes the data, across all facilities in the corresponding database.
5. Performs quality control of casefinding, utilizing but not limited to edits software and audit reports.
6. Collects diagnostic information from non-hospital sources and updates information and codes in the appropriate database. Conducts phone calls and generates letters to physicians, outside facilities as needed..
7. Releases data to outside hospital registries in accordance with HIPAA and maintains HIPAA log on all data released to outside facilities and registries
8. Coordinates the cancer conferences and physician education with CME in accordance to Medical Education guidelines as well as accrediting bodies, including but not limited to American College of Surgeons.
9. Creates and maintains budgets for cancer conferences.
10. Coordinates with various departments to ensure needed conference materials and equipment are available for each meeting.
11. Maintains minutes, grids, and other documentation required by accrediting agencies.
12. Performs follow-up as needed, including coding of recurrence date, type, and subsequent treatment.
13. Performs other clerical functions as needed.
14. Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee/patient/visitor injury accident to Manager.

Position Requirements
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Two (2) years experience as Medical Records Abstractor or Health Data Analyst.
3. Experience using computer data base systems.
4. Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.

1. B.S. degree in Health Sciences, Medical Records Administration, or related discipline.
2. Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR), Registered Record Administrator (RRA) and/or Accredited Record Technician (ART).

License/Certification Requirements: No

Work Hours: 7a-3:30p

Weekend Requirements: No

On-Call Requirements: No
