We are currently seeking Registered Nurses (RNs) with experience in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) for an immediate opportunity in Granbury, TX. Responsibilities/Job Description:

  • Applies appropriate monitoring equipment to the patient.
  • Performs ABC assessment on every patient upon admission to PACU; assess for pain level, sedation level and monitoring the progression of vital signs back to baseline.
  • Monitors patient closely throughout progression from Phase I and into Phase II.
  • Prepares patient for discharge.
  • Provides information/instruction to patient and family members regarding discharge instructions.
  • Documents cardiac monitor and strips.
  • Provides thorough observation data and communicates pertinent patient information to the anesthesiologist/surgeon on an ongoing and timely basis.
  • Completes treatments and procedures as assigned based upon patient complexity and commensurate with the skill, knowledge and training of the individual.
  • Provides care safely, with adequate quality, quantity and timeliness and required documentation.
  • Reviews and initiates physicians orders, administers medication, parenteral fluids and treatment as needed.
  • Performs and records the orders of physicians including administration of medications.
  • Monitors and assesses patient condition throughout postoperative period and reports any unusual symptoms, occurrences or discrepancies to Clinical Manager, anesthesiologist and/or surgeon.
  • Distributes educational material to patients and families as appropriate.
  • Assist anesthesiologists with various blocks, epidurals, and procedures.
  • Uses and provides care for hemodynamic monitoring, including obtaining and interpreting readings, assisting with insertion of, removal of, calibration, blood drawing, etc.
  • Performs neuro checks.
  • Performs vascular checks including use of Doppler.
  • Monitors and regulates vasoactive drugs.
  • Monitors body temperature and elevates body temperature as needed through use of warming devices.
  • Monitors surgical site.
  • Monitors all types of drains.
  • Maintains epidural catheter, along with epidural medication administration, catheter flushing, filter and cap change.

Requirements:

  • Current in-state RN License
  • One year of experience
  • Authorization to work in the United States
