  General Summary

The Nurse Practitioner, in collaboration with physicians, provides medical care and treatment for clients with neurological illnesses along the lifespan in the outpatient setting, inpatient setting, as well as consultation service on the medical units and Emergency Department, Monday – Friday and some weekends. Treatment includes assessing, planning, implementing, coordinating and evaluating care patients amongst a multi-disciplinary team.

The Nurse Practitioner will conduct diagnostic evaluations and prescribe appropriate treatments while utilizing evidenced-based research within the scope of standards of practice for Advanced Practice Nurses as deemed by the American Nurses’ Association and Illinois Nurse Practice Act.

Minimum Requirements

  • Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nursing preferred.

  • Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner educational program.

  • Minimum of six months of clinical practice as an RN required.

  • Effective communication and organization skills

  • Experience in neurology preferred.

  • Current State of Illinois RN and APN licensure required.

  • Nurse Practitioner Certification from a National certifying body required. C-NP

  • Nurse Practitioner Certification from a National certifying body as either a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP)

  • CPR certification required.
