General Statement of Duties:
Promotes and maintains individuals health by developing day to day managements and long term planning for individuals care, directing and developing staff, collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary professional staff, providing physical and/or psychological support for individuals, advocates and families.
Distinguishing Features of Class:
Under general direction of the Vice President of DD Services, the leader in this role will develop/implement tasks geared towards maintaining quality care of the individuals and adherence to OPWDD guidelines.
Illustrative Examples of Work:
Accomplishes nursing objectives by selecting, orientation, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, communicating job expectations, planning, and monitoring and completion performance appraisals.
Assures quality of care by developing and interpretation of OPWDD guidelines, enforcing adherence to the state board of nursing and other governing bodies
Completes individual care requirements by assigning nurses, reviewing charts and participating in regular multidisciplinary team meetings
Provides on-call coverage 24/7
Actively participate in training staff on AMAP protocols, Choking Prevention and other required trainings
Maintains documentation of individual care services by auditing individuals and department records
Maintains nursing supplies inventory by studying usage reports, identifying trends and anticipated needs
Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
Covers nursing vacancies and oversees nursing duties at all sites
Review therap tracking and follow up with staff/nurses regarding any non-compliance and best practices
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Be able to utilize a multidisciplinary team approach to improve patient quality of care and meet standards
Be able to make decisions in the best interest of each individuals care
Be able to develop relationships with community partners
Be able to communicate verbally and in writing quality standards of care and expectations
Bachelors Degree or Higher
Minimum 2 years of experience with OPWDD population
Current RN License
