The Director of Nursing, Maternity Care position is located at Community Hospital North, in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Job Duties
  • This is an incredible opportunity for a leader with a desire to lead a high-performing team, while staying focused on patient experience. Maternity at North has led the state in number of births for three years running!
  • The Director of Nursing for Maternity Care at Community Hospital North will oversee the clinical and business direction of the department with an emphasis on strategic planning and business development, clinical outcomes, quality management, and excellence in customer service

  • This Director will provide the leadership and direction to develop, recommend, and implement programs, policies, procedures, and standards

  • This position reports to the Vice President, Chief Nurse Executive of the hospital

Minimum five (5) years of nursing experience, with a minimum of three (3) years of progressive management/leadership experience. Experience in a wide range of clinical settings preferred (labor, delivery, recovery, OR). Experience with performance improvement a plus.

Bachelor's degree required.
Master's degree required.

Bachelor's or Master's degree must be in nursing.
Master's degree is required within five (5) years of assuming the role. 

Certification in specialty area a plus -- NRP, ACLS, COB.

Current Registered Nurse License by the Indiana Health Professions Bureau.
Certification required in a relevant specialty or Nursing Administration within three (3) years of assuming the role.

  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with all members of the multi-disciplinary team

  • Ability to build effective working relationships with Physicians

  • In-depth knowledge of state and national regulatory agency guidelines

  • Requires a visionary with the ability to think in a positive and creative manner

  • Ability to lead performance improvement initiatives

  • Knowledge and experience in finance, operations management, strategic planning, and community relations

  • Interpersonal, negotiation, and presentation skills with the ability to lead groups and programs

  • Problem solving and analytical skills
