PACU Staff RN - PRN
JOB TITLE: PACU Staff RN
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinates nursing care and patient/family education for Newborn, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric patients through the use of the nursing process; maintains positive working relationships with staff and other departments to provide optimal quality outcomes within the framework of professional nursing practice. These responsibilities are met according to hospital policy, hospital mission statement and the philosophy of the Department of Nursing. The RN should demonstrate a knowledge base and skill set necessary to provide care appropriate to the condition and age of the patients served. The nurse must demonstrate familiarity with the principles of growth and development throughout the life cycle. The nurse must be able to assimilate basic knowledge and patient related data to perform a comprehensive and age appropriate assessment. The RN must be aware of ASPAN standards, regarding patient care in the PACU. The PACU RN must have or obtain an advanced understanding of surgical procedures and the affects of anesthesia on the post-op patient.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: Operationally, the Staff RN reports to the Department Manager and the Director of Surgery, and administratively to the Chief Nursing Officer.
REQUIREMENTS: 1.) Possess current licensure to practice nursing in Texas 2.) Certified in BCLS, ACLS, and PALS 3.) Experience in PACU setting or other Critical Care settings preferred. 4) Specialty Certification preferred 5) Basic Arrhythmia/Telemetry training preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Able to lift 50-60 lbs daily
