Provides nursing services and administers chemotherapy to cancer patients under physician direction.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Prepares cancer patient, both physiologically and psychologically, for treatment. Mixes chemotherapy and administers medication as directed by the Physician. Monitors and records vital signs such as temperature, blood pressure, and pulse rate. Assess patient for reactions to medication during and after administration of chemotherapy.
Triages patients who call office or walk-in without appt. Assess the condition/problem, and gives medical advice based on protocols set by providers. Makes decisions for further evaluation or follow-up as needed.
Assists with procedures (bone marrows and etc) as directed by the Physician.
Monitors and replaces inventory of Pyxis per policies and procedures.
Facilitates communication between patient, Physician, and family as appropriate. Instructs the patient and family in home care. Instruct Chemo 101 classes as needed.
Traveling to satellite locations as needed/required to provide patient care, etc.
Maintains knowledge of and complies with established policies and procedures.
Responsible for maintaining patient confidentiality.
Performs other duties as assigned.Company Description
