Position Summary - Large Scope Administrative Director over Acute Care Services in Level One Trauma Center

 

To provide leadership and accountability in the strategic and daily operations of the clinical service. The focus of the position will be the operations of the clinical service. This will include developing and maintaining physician relations, empowering clinical care givers through solicitation of input and implementation of actions to improve delivery of patient care. Responsible for planning, organizing, directing and evaluating the administrative functions of the clinical service.  He/she will supervise the delivery of patient care and has the responsibility for establishing standards of nursing practice for the service and the nursing division as a whole. Assure achievement of department, nursing division and hospital goals as well as adherence to hospital policies and standards set forth by accreditation and regulatory agencies.

OVERSIGHT:   5 clinical units with 36 beds on four of the units, and one with 16 beds.    Units include:

                          1 36 bed Innovation Unit (MedSurg unit with virtual nurse.  Lots of project work involved and desire to grow in this care model to other floors.

                           1 36 bed oncology unit where patients come post trauma from ICU (some surgical services)

                           1 36 bed neuro unit.   High stroke program and some ortho patients (runs at 95% census consistently)

                           1 36 bed Cardiac/vascular/medical unit

                           1 16 bed rehab unit (a lot of post-acute head injuries from trauma, average stay 10-14 days)

                            One Tele team of techs that oversee all the telemetry monitors of acute care patients (cardiac tele, pulse ox,

                            and fall risk patients. 

 

There is a manager over each clinical unit that reports into this position.   The Director will be responsible for nurturing the development of new nurse managers.   The hospital has strong development program, but director needs to coach and mentor in support of those developmental programs on the day-to-day leadership and services.   There are two clinical nurse specialists and one educator that support this acute care service line.

 

Looking for a leader who aspires to become ACNO/CNO track with the oversight of this acute care service line for succession planning.   Goals will focus on quality, patient satisfaction, and staff engagement.     Looking for a take-charge leader who can nurture and lead teams to get innovation councils set up through the management team.    The pace is fast in this busy Level One Trauma Center, yet still providing the high quality patient centered care with a community hospital feel.  If you are a dynamic, energizing nurse leader who can get results and is looking for large scope challenge to get to ultimate career desire of ACNO or CNO role, this is the role for you!

 

 

Minimum Education Requirements

 

BSN required; MSN or other Master’s degree required

 

Minimum Experience Requirements

 

Four years of leadership/management experience in an acute care hospital.  Prior director level experience in Level One Trauma preferred.

 

License/Certification

Certification in Specialty or Nurse Executive Preferred (or within 1 year)

Current Colorado RN License
