Job Description
Job Summary:
Delivers professional nursing care in the operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures. Position is concentrated on the specialty of GYN, General and Urology surgical procedures.

Responsibilities:
  • Performs scrub functions including the selection and handling of instruments and supplies used during procedure.
  • Performs circulating functions including monitoring, recording and communicating patient condition and managing overall nursing care of patient before, during and after procedure.
  • Directly assists operating physician with surgical tasks including hemostasis, suturing and wound exposure as well as patient positioning.
  • Prepares operating rooms and surgical instruments and equipment for use.
  • Conducts sterilization, patient safety and room utilization orientation/training for staff.
  • Maintains clinical records of patient care, equipment logs, and supply requisitions.

Qualifications
Licenses/Certifications/Registration:
  • Required Credential(s):
    • Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Florida Department of Health obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date, or Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) licensure required.
    • One or more of the following:
      • Advanced Life Support credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. ACLS replaces the BLS.
      • BLS Providercredentialed from theAmerican Heart Association (AHA)obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education:
  • Diploma
    • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing required BSN preferred

Work Experience:
  • 1+ years RN Operating Room experience required; or Graduate from St Vincent's Peri-Operative Program.
