Position Summary

The Patient Logistics Coordinator (PLC) proactively manages patient flow and inpatient bed assignments and is responsible for having a global, hospital-wide perspective from all patient points of entry, coordination of patient care, and patient transition to dismissal. The PLC will evaluate, process, track, document, and coordinate patient transfers into the hospital. This individual collaborates with appropriate hospital staff and departments to assure quality, timely, cost-efficient care and placement into the most appropriate level of care. The PLC will work closely with staffing personnel, Administrative RN Manager, Centura Connect, department leaders, and Administrator on Call to maximize inpatient bed assignments. In making placement decisions, the PLC will obtain proper medical and demographic information to adequately assign patients to beds based on care requirements while maximizing the hospital’s bed resources. The PLC operates within the bounds of the established facility guidelines and resources available to determine priorities and reach bed assignment decisions. In addition to patient bed assignments, the PLC identifies and responds to issues impacting patient throughput. This individual will be held accountable for designated performance measure outcomes related to patient throughput. The PLC will possess the following attributes:

  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with clinical staff, physicians, senior management, and both internal and external customers

  • Requires strong interpersonal and organization skills, leadership, teamwork, critical thinking, and collaboration

  • Requires the ability to resolve conflict swiftly and effectively

  • Excellent critical thinking skills and ability to multitask effectively

  • Requires the ability to complete job duties autonomously


Minimum Education Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing

  • BSN or BS degree required


Minimum Experience Requirements

Registered Nurse (RN) with a minimum of 3 years progressive clinical experience to include acute care, cardiac telemetry, critical care, emergency, case management, charge nurse/ house supervision, and/or transfer center experience.



  • Current Colorado licensure as a RN


Physical Requirements

Medium Work - exert/lift up to 50 lbs. force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. constantly
