We are looking for a dedicated Maternal Designation Coordinator Nurse like you to be a part of our team. As the Maternal Designation Coordinator, Registered Nurse you will have accountability and responsibility for the effective and efficient operation of Labor & Delivery and Antepartum. responsibilities will include conducting Performance Improvement activities, critical care OB patient chart review, daily patient rounds and participate in nursing education. Educational/training presentations for all nursing staff related to critical care of the obstetrical patient and outreach activities interacting with other healthcare entities, pre-hospital care providers and presenting/participating in injury prevention programs to interested organizations and the general public. * You will develop and oversee the curriculum for critical care training for OB nurses including initial entrance into the program as well as maintenance of skills. * You will provide classes/skills labs to both CC OB nurses and women’s services nurses regarding physiology of high-risk pregnancy and management of certain conditions that may not require a fully trained CC OB nurse. * You will collaborate with Quality Perinatal Coordinator in preparing and administering annual team-based learning scenarios for all physicians and nurses. * You will collaborate with maternal navigator in regards to OB patients with very high-risk conditions requiring multidisciplinary care at time of delivery and postpartum. This includes but is not limited to selecting nurses for care of these patients and assessing any knowledge or preparatory needs, coordinating pre and post huddles, coordinating debriefing if indicated, and follow-up education regarding any critical care occurrences. * You will maintain documentation of all designation requirements and prepare all documentation necessary for any interim assessments or re-certifications as required by the State of Texas. * You will assist in maintaining Maternal Designation Level IV following Texas Department of Health (TDH) code for compliance. * You will attend quarterly CATRAC meetings that must be 100% per TDH St. David’s North Austin Medical Center, which is part of St. David’s HealthCare, is a 425-bed multi-specialty, acute care facility dedicated to the highest level of women’s health services, including maternity and newborn care with Level I, II and III nurseries at the adjacent St. David’s Women’s Center of Texas. QualificationsExperience * 5 years’ experience as a Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse * Previous experience as OB Trauma/Nurse Coordinator – preferred Education * Bachelor of Science in Nursing * Master’s in Nursing - Preferred Licenses and Certifications * Registered Nurse with Texas state licensure or licensure from a state within the Nursing Compact. If working under compact license, must have current state license within 90 days. * BLS certification as per St. David’s Healthcare policy * ACLS certification as per St. David’s Healthcare policy * Current certification as a Provider in either OB ACLS, NRP * AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring and/or Advance Fetal Monitoring * Certified in specialty area - preferred
