Legacy Emanuel Medical Center is a Level 1 Pediatric and Adult Trauma Center, comprehensive Stroke Center, Chest Pain Center and home of the Oregon Burn Center.The 29-bed unit Adult Emergency room, remodeled in January 2014, is open 24 hours/day with board certified physicians and serves 44,000 patients annually. The Ambulatory Care Unit sees patients with minor illnesses and injuries from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
The entire Emergency staff is trauma-ready trained, with a subset of nurses trained as Trauma Resuscitation Nurses. Opened in December 2013, an additional 10 bed Clinical Decision Unit cares for patients in observation status for ongoing short-term treatment and assessment. Common reasons for placement will include not responding adequately to medications, chest pain complaint where MI cannot be ruled out, and other conditions.Responsibilities
Responsible for patient care within an assigned department/unit and participates as a member of the health care team in cooperation with and under the direction of the clinical manager or designee as defined by the relevant Standards and Scope of Practice for the Registered Nurse. The RN Staff Nurse assesses, analyzes, plans, implements and evaluates patient care following established patient care standards for Legacy Health System including those for patient assessment and transfer.Qualifications
As required by licensure. BSN or degree in progress strongly preferred. BSN may be required for specific assignments; experienced RNs without a BSN may be hired based on clinical experience with approval of the site CNO.
One-year registered nursing experience or completion of either the Legacy Health RN Residency program or a nursing program that is equivalent in content, curriculum and duration.
Emergency RN experience preferred.
Demonstrated ability of positive interpersonal and communication skills with colleagues, patients, families, physicians and the community. Keyboard skills and ability to navigate electronic systems applicable to job functions.
