Texas Oncology is looking for a Nurse Practitioner to join our team!  This position will work and support our Waco, TX. location; 1700 W., Hwy 6, Waco, TX 76712.  This is a Full-Time, Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm, no weekends, or on-call. Texas Oncology is the largest community oncology provider in the country and has approximately 600+ providers in 220+ sites across Texas and southeastern Oklahoma.  Our founders pioneered community-based cancer care because they believed in making the best available cancer care accessible to all communities, allowing people to fight cancer at home with the critical support of family and friends nearby. What does the Nurse Practitioner do?
This position is responsible for patient care supporting the practicing Radiation Oncologist in a collaborative practice to oncology patients. Scope of responsibility includes expert practitioner, educator/teacher, care management, consultant, nurse researcher, and nurse leader. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

Responsibilities

The essential duties and responsibilities: 

Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates care for individual patients.Initiates and documents appropriate interventions; evaluates and records patient/family response within practice protocol; prescribes oncological therapies per protocol/physician consultation.Educated in reimbursement procedures and documentation requirements.Completes patient charge tickets.Assists physicians and performs procedures as needed; conducts patient assessments and provides physician with information prior to seeing the patient.Assesses patient/family needs and provides education.Promotes wellness and recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.Promotes/provides staff education.Incorporates evidence-based research into clinical practice.Provides case management for oncology clients and their families.Serves as a resource person for the nursing staff by providing information being studied in clinical trials.Supervisory role regarding the activities of clinical nursing and support staff.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate for the Nurse Practitioner role will have the following background and experience:  

Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited program for nursing education and successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner program.Preference for experience in an Oncology setting.Preference for experience and knowledge in the management of the physiologic and psychological effects of cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatment.RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state.Current state certification of Nurse Practitioner.Current CPR certification required.*N
