GS-03 grade level: Six (6) months of general experience. General Experience is defined as (1) any type of work that demonstrates the applicant's ability to perform the work of the position, or (2) experience that provided a familiarity with the subject matter or processes of the broad subject area of the occupation.
OR
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the experience required. Successful completion of one (1) year, beyond high school, of study that included study in medical, health or related fields. If qualifying based on education, an unofficial transcript or listing of courses must be submitted with your application, which will be verified through official transcript if selected.
OR
Combination: Applicants may qualify based on a combination of education and experience. The total qualifying experience is taken as a percentage of the 6 months' experience required; qualifying education is taken as a percentage of the 1 year education substitution. When added together, the total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Physical Requirements: Duties require extensive periods of standing and walking. Working with residents requires regular and recurring bending, lifting (not to exceed 35 pounds), reaching, carrying, stooping, stretching and similar activities.
