The CSFA is responsible for preparing the surgical site, assisting with surgical instruments, positioning the patient, and providing suction or other assistance as needed during the procedure. They are also responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of the patient throughout the surgery. The CSFA may also be responsible for post-operative care, such as cleaning and dressing the wound, as well as monitoring the patient's vital signs.
Requirements
- In order to become a CSFA, individuals must complete an accredited surgical first assistant program and pass a certification exam.
- 2 years of experience are required in the field.
