Overview
This course provides nurses and case managers with knowledge of legal concerns associated with utilization management in the acute care setting.Goals and Learning Outcomes
A variety of legal concerns influence utilization management (UM) processes, including patient confidentiality requirements, professional liabilities, and malpractice issues. Furthermore, UM clinicians may be asked to testify about actions, or a lack thereof, by other healthcare professionals. Therefore, a basic understanding of legal terminology is imperative.
The goal of this course is to equip nurses and case managers with knowledge of legal concerns associated with utilization management in the acute care setting.
