Goal and Learning Outcomes

The goal of this continuing education program is to enhance healthcare professionals’ understanding of the connection between adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and adult health and well-being, to enable them to provide trauma-informed care through understanding, assessment, and referrals. After studying the information presented here, you will be able to:
  • Discuss how the results of an ACEs questionnaire can predict a person’s future health and well-being based on current research
  • Describe the skills required to appropriately respond to patients’ traumatic childhood experiences
  • Explain how being educated in trauma-informed care can improve clinical practice
  • Discuss how the interprofessional healthcare team contributes to improved patient outcomes
