Goal and Learning Outcomes

The goal of this course is to educate nurses in acute care facilities on seasonal affective disorder with an emphasis on distinguishing qualifiers of depressive episodes and implications for nurses and for women. After taking this course, you should be able to:
  • Describe predisposing factors and symptoms that distinguish SAD from nonseasonal depression.
  • Name two underlying mechanisms in SAD and two areas of SAD research.
  • Discuss evidence-based treatments with nursing implications for SAD.
