This course provides strategies to enhance the safe handling and administration of hazardous drugs and patient adherence to oral anticancer treatments.Goals and Learning Outcomes
This course equips healthcare professionals with essential practices for safe and effective chemotherapy management. It addresses the risks associated with chemotherapy exposure, outlines risk mitigation strategies, and emphasizes the importance of adhering to safety standards and using personal protective equipment (PPE). Additionally, it highlights the challenges of medication adherence, particularly for oral chemotherapy, and underscores the need for ongoing, high-quality education to improve patient care and optimize treatment outcomes.
The goal of this course is to ensure the safe handling and administration of chemotherapy while also providing nurses, pharmacists, and physicians with strategies to enhance patient adherence to oral anticancer treatments.
- Recognize types of potential occupational exposure, the risks associated with hazardous drugs, and the importance of using personal protective equipment.
- Identify nonadherence factors, key components of patient education, and strategies for managing patients receiving oral chemotherapy.
