Goal and Learning Outcomes

The goal of this course is to equip healthcare providers with tools and techniques to promote healthy behaviors centered on dietary choices, physical activity, and mindful eating practices for people of all sizes.  After taking this course, you should be able to:
  • Recognize the causes and effects of overweight and obesity in the U.S.
  • Describe the psychological and physical impacts of chronic dieting and weight bias. 
  • Identify and analyze factors that influence behavioral change.
  • Restate at least 3 components of a non-diet approach.
  • Identify at least 3 interventions that specifically focus on health, food choices, and physical activity with your patients or clients. 
  • Review traditional weight-loss options, including diets, medication, and surgery used in weight management programs.
