The purpose of this course is to combine the traditional teachings of fall prevention with the latest research. Although you may be familiar with some of the concepts, they are crucial and will be emphasized. In addition, you will learn new techniques and strategies based on current standards and research, which will supplement your existing knowledge and skills.

The course aims to guide interdisciplinary teams in post-acute care settings on a collaborative approach to preventing falls.


After taking this course, you should be able to:

  • Recognize at least three intrinsic and extrinsic fall risk factors and best practices to address these risk factors.
  • Recall at least three screening tools that can be used for fall risk prevention.
  • Identify the components of an effective fall risk program.
