Goal and Learning Outcomes

The goal of this course is to inform Behavioral Health Counselors and Nursing Professionals in acute care settings with general knowledge to care for patients with post-traumatic stress disorder. After taking this course, you should be able to:
  • Discuss the history and background, etiology and epidemiology, and clinical definition of post-traumatic stress disorder.
  • Identify the assessment, diagnosis, management, treatment, and prevention of post-traumatic stress disorder.
  • Describe elements of complex PTSD and emergence delirium in patients with PTSD.
