Goals and Learning Outcomes

Unlock the Power of Early Detection
Early warning signs can be easily overlooked, but they often hold the key to preventing serious patient outcomes. In this session, Nurse Alice will guide you through the common early signs of clinical deterioration, from subtle changes in vital signs, altered mental status to decreased urinary output. By the end, you'll be able to spot these signs with greater accuracy and confidence, ensuring your patients receive timely and effective care.

Recognize Deterioration with Assessment Tools
Do you know how to use tools like the Modified Early Warning Score (MEWS) and the National Early Warning Score (NEWS) to their full potential? Did you know there are monitoring systems that can detect symptoms like Acute Kidney Injury even before lab value changes? And what to do if your hospital doesn’t have any of these tools? How can you still effectively recognize early indicators of clinical deterioration by utilizing alternative approaches? Nurse Alice will show you how to identify patient decline early without and without these tools, and take proactive steps to manage it.
