Overview
This course provides clinicians with evidence supporting the use of noninvasive positive pressure ventilation as well as strategies for its application.Goals and Learning Outcomes
This module will discuss noninvasive positive pressure ventilation (NPPV) and the educational needs of clinicians and patients using this therapy. NPPV provides an exciting alternative to invasive methods of managing ventilation. Used appropriately, NPPV provides advantages for patients versus endotracheal intubation. NPPV can also be used as a mode to support the patient moving to a transitional care environment for continued care.
- Recall the advantages of NPPV versus endotracheal intubation.
- Identify care considerations for NPPV.
- Identify interface devices for patients requiring NPPV and their uses.
