Overview
This course provides nurses and social workers with information about stress interventions for parents of NICU infants.Goals and Learning Outcomes
- Identify the common stressors experienced by parents of infants in the NICU and how these stressors impact the parent-infant dyad and neonatal development.
- Recognize the psychosocial needs of NICU parents and the importance of family-centered care in addressing emotional, practical, and relational challenges.
- Recall evidence-based strategies and interventions, such as open communication, skin-to-skin contact, and parental empowerment, that support stress reduction and bonding for NICU parents.
