    1. After taking this course, you should be able to:
      Recognize compromised neonates that need resuscitation.
      State what equipment and personnel will be needed to resuscitate a newborn.
      Explain the changes in physiology that occur when a child is born.
      List the steps to follow during resuscitation.
      Recognize and state how to use the devices used to ventilate a compromised newborn.
      Explain the importance of and proper way to administer ventilation and compressions.

  • NLS Part 2: Neonatal Intubation and Special Considerations

    1. After taking this course, you should be able to:
      Recognize the situations when it may be necessary to intubate a newborn.
      Recognize head and neck anatomy and the steps of proper intubation of a newborn.
      Recognize the importance of medication administration and how to administer medications.
      Describe certain conditions that make resuscitation efforts difficult.
      Explain the differences in the resuscitation of a premature infant versus a term newborn.
      Describe difficult end of life issues when resuscitation efforts are unsuccessful.
