Goals and Learning Outcomes

With heart disease remaining the number one cause of adult deaths in the U.S., it is vital for nurses to keep up to date on current disease findings and the medications they are treated with. This course discusses the basic function of the heart along with the causes and treatment of heart disease. It also discusses the action of commonly used medications to treat heart conditions.
 
The goal of this course is to familiarize nurses in post-acute care on heart diseases and the medications to treat them.

After taking this course, you should be able to:

  • Identify what heart disease is.
  • Recall the primary causes of heart disease.
  • Discuss the common symptoms of heart disease.
  • Explain how heart disease is diagnosed.
  • Describe the action of commonly prescribed medications for heart disease.
