According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) (2022a), obesity affects nearly 15 million children and adolescents in the U.S. Left untreated, children and adolescents with obesity are likely to become adults with obesity, increasing the risk of developing chronic diseases. The goal of this course is to educate nurses, dietitians, and fitness professionals in the acute setting on pediatric obesity and best practices for management.
- Identify the definition, causes, and risks for childhood obesity.
- Recall evidence-based intervention strategies for addressing pediatric obesity.
