Overview
This course provides the healthcare team in the acute setting with education on managing hypoglycemia in diabetes.Goals and Learning Outcomes
The body’s blood glucose levels fluctuate between a certain range throughout the day as part of the physiological response to foods eaten and physical activity. For patients with diabetes, managing these fluctuations is important for the prevention of complications. Educating your patient and their caregivers on preventing and treating hypoglycemia is a necessary component of their care plan. This course will review how to identify and treat hypoglycemia in diabetes. It will use story based learning and review questions to promote active learning.
- Identify the causes of hypoglycemia.
- Recall the body’s physiological response to hypoglycemia.
- Indicate clinical interventions for the prevention and treatment of hypoglycemia.
