Goal and Learning Outcomes

The goal of this course is to update nurses, dietitians, pharmacy professionals, and social workers in acute care settings about the latest cholesterol treatment guidelines and provide an example of interprofessional collaboration for care of a patient with hyperlipidemia. After taking this course, you should be able to:
  • Discuss how interprofessional collaboration enhances patient care in the hospital setting.
  • Discuss physiologic risks related to elevated cholesterol.
  • Describe non-pharmacologic treatment approaches to the management of hyperlipidemia.
  • Describe pharmacologic treatments for hyperlipidemia, including risks and benefits.
