Goal and Learning Outcomes

The goal of this educational program is to provide nurses in healthcare settings with information about the incidence, etiology, identification, and care of late-preterm infants. After taking this course, you should be able to:
  • Define “late-preterm infant” and explain why this designation is a better description than “near-term infant.”
  • Describe at least three common problems of the late pre-term infant.
  • Identify at least four nursing interventions for care and discharge planning for this group of infants.
