Herbal supplements have been used throughout history to treat a wide variety of medical conditions. Today they are considered an integral component of complementary and alternative medicine for patients who desire a holistic approach to their care. It is important for healthcare providers to be familiar with herbal supplements and how they may be helpful or harmful to their patients.
