Goal and Learning Outcomes

The goal of this continuing education program is to provide healthcare practitioners with the information necessary to select a first-line therapy for hepatitis C and to monitor therapy. This module will also discuss key factors, such as contraindications, drug-drug interactions, and drug-disease interactions, so providers can make appropriate therapy decisions. Additionally, this module will highlight the contributions and roles of different members of a patient’s interdisciplinary treatment team. After studying the material presented here, you will be able to:
  • Identify factors that place patients at risk for acquiring hepatitis C
  • Discuss patient- and disease-specific factors that are key to selecting the optimal therapy for hepatitis C
  • Evaluate approved therapies for hepatitis C and review important information relevant to optimal use of these medications
  • Describe the appropriate monitoring parameters for patients receiving treatment
  • Identify opportunities for members of the healthcare team to collaborate in providing the best patient care for managing hepatitis C
