Goal and Learning Outcomes

The goal of this educational program is to provide nursing professionals in acute care with an introductory orientation to home-based nursing care.  After taking this course, you should be able to:
  • Describe at least three characteristics of home-based nursing care.
  • State the two qualifying criteria for patients to receive home healthcare.
  • Explain at least five strategies to identify, prevent, and effectively manage health and safety hazards associated with home-based care.
  • Summarize proper infection control practices to prevent exposure to and spread of bloodborne and other infectious pathogens in the home care setting.
