This course provides updated information on the treatment and management of cystic fibrosis. Cystic fibrosis is an autosomal recessive disease that affects approximately 30,000 children and adults in the U.S. (CFF, n.d.). It is a chronic, multisystem disorder that significantly reduces life expectancy.
- Describe the basic defect that causes cystic fibrosis and how the disease affects different organ systems.
- Discuss the status of research into new treatments and potential cures for cystic fibrosis.
- Identify therapies and teaching considerations for the management of patients with cystic fibrosis.
