Goals and Learning Outcomes

This course will prepare registered nurses for the Certified Registered Nurse Infusion (CRNI) Certification Exam. It covers different types of infusion therapies, their purposes, contraindications, and management.

After taking this course, you should be able to:

  • Recall pain management strategies in infusion therapy, including the use of analgesics, assessing pain levels, and pain management protocols to enhance patient comfort and outcomes.
  • Identify the use of cardiac drugs in infusion therapy, covering their indications, mechanisms, administration, and monitoring to ensure safe patient care.
  • Recognize the essentials of handling and administering antineoplastic agents, focusing on chemotherapy principles, safety in handling cytotoxic drugs, and managing side effects to improve patient safety and treatment outcomes.
  • Recall information on administering blood products, biologics, and immunologic agents, including their indications, potential reactions, and monitoring for adverse reactions to ensure effective therapy.
